New artworks added to the collection

Between 3 Spaces, 2004, by photographer Ola Kolehmainen is the latest addition to the collection.  Paintings by Marjatta Tapiola, Yksi yö halkeaa, 1984, and Camilla Vuorenmaa I promised to come back for her birthday, 2022, have also been received as donations – both artists’ first artworks in the Foundation’s collection.

Iiu Susiraja successful in the United States

Moma PS1 presents photographer Iiu Susiraja’s first ever solo museum exhibition in the US, A style called a dead fish, between April 20-September 4, 2023. In May Susiraja has the honor to be the first artist to exhibit in Nino Mier Gallery’s new space in Tribeca, New York.

Alvar Aalto’s anniversary at the Finnish Glass Museum

Tiftö Collection will contribute to the Finnish Glass Museum´s celebration of Alvar Aalto´s 125th anniversary with loans of rare Aalto glass vases. The exhibition opening in May 13 will run until October 15, 2023.

The Collection’s paintings at Halosenniemi

Pekka Halonen´s paintings Tuonen lehto (The Reaper´s Grove) and Talvimaisema Myllykylästä (Winter landscape from Myllykylä) are on loan to Halosenniemi, the artist’s home museum in Tuusula. The exhibition is dedicated to his wife Maija Halonen, originally from Myllykylä in Karelia, which became one the artist’s favourite motifs. Maija posed for The Reaper’s Grove, which came to the Collection through Rafaela Seppälä’s grandfather Eero Erkko, the artist’s friend. On view until April 23, 2023.

100 years of Finnish design

In 2017 Sweden´s National Museum showcased Hundred Years of Finnish Design from the Collection to celebrate 100 years of Finnish independence. The show was curated by Barbro Kulvik and Antti Siltavuori. A selection of the Collection´s furniture, decorative art, lighting fixtures and textiles from 1900 until today was complemented by background stories of each designer. The exhibition was appreciated by a record breaking 30.000 visitors. Read more
